NEW DATE: 5th Annual Chalk My Walk is now on Saturday, July 11!
After having to postpone or event from June 4 due to the risk of thunderstorms, we’re extremely pleased to invite the community to join us for our annual FREE event, Chalk My Walk, on Saturday, July 11 from 2 to 5 p.m.!
Come meet and connect with the Mount Dennis Community Association, the Weston King Neighbourhood Centre, the Mount Dennis Run Club, the Toronto Nature Stewards, Community Bikeways, our local Beaver Troupe, and more!
You’re also invited to join Community Bikeways at 1 p.m. for an easy-going bike ride exploring some of the bikeways — on-road bike lanes, off-road trails, and bike paths — as well as some of the gaps in local cycling infrastructure. This 17 km ride begins at the northwest corner of Weston Rd and Eglinton Ave then heads west to follow a route that includes Eglinton Avenue, Royal York Road, the Humber River Trail, Church and Pine Streets in Weston, and returning back to the starting point via Weston Road. - At 7:30 pm sample some flavourful Nigerian cuisine at Calabar Grill (1278 Weston Rd.)
- At 9:30 pm linger with a latte at supercoffeemd (1148 Weston Rd.) or a bubble tea at Bap Bubble Tea (1190 Weston Rd.)
- Optional – End the night with a pint or glass of wine at the Irish Rose Pub (1095 Weston Rd.)!

On Saturday June 8, the Mount Dennis BIA is proud to host the 3rd Annual Chalk My Walk. Featuring FREE live entertainment, kids activities, and bike giveaways, our yearly event is also an opportunity to meet with local eco-initiatives and active transportation groups!
Bike and Prize Giveaways
Our partners at York South Weston Reuse, Repair, Ride will be raffling away bikes at Chalk My Walk – including one trike, several kids bikes, and one women’s adult bike. To enter our raffle please fill out a ballot at one of our member businesses (no purchase necessary):
- supercoffee at 1148 Weston Rd.
- BAP Bubble Tea at 1190 Weston Rd.
- V’s Caribbean Restaurant at 1221 Weston Rd.
- Pier 6 Seafood at 1172 Weston Rd.
- Loncheria Pos Bueno at 1165 Weston Rd.Western Gate Martial Arts at 1036 Weston Rd.
There are four kids’ bikes, a toddler scooter, a tricycle and an adult women’s bike to be won. There will also be a ton of kids prizes as well as 3 copies of Community Bikeways‘ Albert Koehl’s book, “Wheeling through Toronto“.
How to Enter:
The raffle is open to all ages. Participants can fill in up to 2 ballots per prize, per visit. No purchase necessary…but is appreciated! 
Ballots will be accepted until closing on June 7, 2024.
Fill out a ticket: blue tickets for a toddler/kids bikes, red tickets for kids’ bikes and/or black and white tickets for the adult bike. Don’t forget to take the half of the ballot that says “Keep This Coupon”. Participants must be present at Chalk My Walk during the draw to claim the prize. Proof of ID will be required to claim prizes.
York South-Weston Bicycle Reuse, Repair, Ride is dedicated to ensuring that cycling is accessible to all. they work with many amazing partners who ensure the success of this initiative including the BAM program at The Learning Enrichment Foundation and the 12 Division Neighbourhood Community Officers. They also rely on, and are so grateful for, the amazing community members who continue to donate bicycles to make this possible.
Live Entertainment
The Mount Dennis BIA has arranged for a full afternoon of free family entertainment at our main stage on Hollis Street under the Mount Dennis mural. Local resident and world-renowned DJ Cosmic Cat is back along with Mount Dennis’ own favourite unicyclist, dazzling Darren Bedford.
Performing on the street this year are 3 acts from the Toronto Fringe Festival. Dance Fachin and their project, The Fourth R: reduce, reuse, recycle, Revolutionize returns with their interdisciplinary presentation that fuses climate science, dance and video projections together.
New this year is Honeyball Puppetry performing “Chloe and Meraki”. Chloe is a little girl who lives in a big, bustling city on the edge of a beautiful ocean. She has all the material things a child could want, but her greatest wish is to have a friend. When she meets Meraki, a wild sea otter, they share a magical encounter that changes both their worlds!
Also coming to Chalk My Walk for the first time is Breakaway Entertainment performing “Scenes From An Italian Restaurant” – In a tale of betrayal and redemption, follow the journey of a young musician ensnared by the ruthless clutches of fame’s dark underbelly. Escaping through the soulful melodies of Billy Joel & Elton John, watch as love and inspiration intertwine within the humble notes of a small-town piano, nestled in an old Italian restaurant.
Bex in Motion – is a one of a kind performer who incorporates comedy, acrobatics, juggling and mesmerizing hula hoop tricks into her show.
The Grand Salto Theatre is also performing and creates playful, physical and thought provoking performances that blend theatre, circus, clown, mask and dance.
Not to be missed is Ballroom Expressions‘ Igor Borysov’s Salsa demonstration! Join in as Igor takes you through some salsa steps.

Kids Activities
The 68th Beavers are returning with their eco-themed crafts and scavenger hunt and the Weston King Neighbourhood Centre will be giving out fun temporary tattoos and popcorn!
Local Eco-Initiatives and Active Transportation groups
Come and meet local community groups and learn about the great work they’re doing in the area:
The Toronto Nature Stewards support the ecological restoration of ravines and natural areas by picking up litter, removing invasive plants, planting native species, and monitoring the environmental impact of stewardship activities. They meet as small, local groups to care for approved sites in Toronto’s ravines and natural areas.
Our Future First specializes in conflict transformation, community engagement, and process design. Collaborating in partnerships, they co-organize experiences that foster youth leadership and shared visioning.
Lost Rivers‘s objective of Lost River Walks is to encourage understanding of the city as a part of nature rather than apart from it, and to appreciate and cherish our heritage. Lost River Walks aims to create an appreciation of the city’s intimate connection to its water systems by tracing the courses of forgotten streams, by learning about our natural and built heritage and by sharing this information with others.
The Mount Dennis Community Association (MDCA) is back – meet your neighbours and learn how you can make a difference in your community!
The Mount Dennis ecoNeighbourhood Initiative (MDeNI) aims to break silos and show that sustainability can be envisioned and incorporated in all the moving parts of a neighborhood: business, housing, transportation, jobs, amenities, and culture.
Save Eglinton Flats Coalition is a collaboration of community groups dedicated to preserving the Eglinton Flats parks system which includes Fergy Brown Park, Topham Pond, and Pearen Park.
Community Bikeways (aka the Toronto Community Bikeways Coalition (TCBC)) is a volunteer advocacy group that believes municipal transportation priorities must be urgently re-ordered toward better cycling, transit, and walking facilities.
Live Green Toronto (LiveGreenTO) is a City of Toronto program that helps you & your community go green.

Community Safety meeting on Tuesday June 20, 2023
Join Councillor Nunziata and Toronto Chief of Police Myron Demkiw on June 29, at 6:30 p.m. for a Community Safety Meeting. There will be a presentation by Toronto Police 12 Division followed by a question and answer session.
Community safety is everyone’s concern, so please come out and be heard. The meeting will be at the @lef_digital at 116 Industry St.
